Change is Beautiful
A previous design was overhauled to give the owners a cohesive and gracefully designed home, both inside and out.
The Challenge
The main challenge of this project was helping to develop the perfect plan to meet the owner’s needs. Other challenges included working on a steep fall-away lot with limited access and stabilizing the site during construction to prevent erosion. Keeping additions proportionate and in scale to the rest of the house was also key.
The Solution
Wescott Construction created a benched backyard during the construction process. We also installed adequate footings to support the new mezzanine structure, including 16-foot columns.
The Result
The family is now able to enjoy bigger kitchens, great entertaining areas, more open space and an outdoor area that anyone would be proud of.
From Our Founder
“The Gordinier family contacted us with a plan from an architect that they felt invested and confident in. When we sat down and talked to them their design and functionality goals, we realized the plan didn’t necessarily reflect their end goals. Wescott brought in new architect and had the house completely redrawn to better suit their needs. The plan changed drastically, but kept an emphasis on the footprint of their existing house. It was also essential to the owners that the renovated additions were in-scale and proportionate to the existing structure. The end result is a cohesive space where no element seems like an afterthought.”
